The New Years Bash - 2005

There should have been a big bash - in the scenic locales of GOA.
Life - however takes its own set of turns and twists. So I ended up in Delhi!!

But it was fun.. :-) and I mean real fun.

As a prelude to the last nite - we went partying on the 30th as well. I played bare chested (lmost) and then laded up in bed all day on the 31st as the cold weather had hit me hard. I wasn't sure I was going anyplace tonite. Mom-dad got me thru the day and we ended up at Gaurav & Niharikas place to bid adieu to 2005.
This has been an eventful year - no doubt on that!!!
This was a small get together for the 6 of us and we made the most of it. I couldn;t get enough of the Biryani, booze & Butter chicken (not necessarily in that order)

The real funny thing was that at midnight - everybody went for their phones and the dang network was jammed up as hell...
What is this world coming to?
Sunny was the only one who actually managed to get through on the clogged networks. The only hitch was that nobody was picking up the phone at the other end!!! LOL

Merry Xmas

Yes - This Xmas might just be X-Rated!!!! (X here means FUN - not what you were thinkin )

We (Tina & me) spent it with friends - Niharika, Gaurav, Sunny Surabhi and Shamit.
It was a blast!! and I mean a real blast @ shamits place..

We were meeting Sunny , Surabhi and Shamit (3s') for the very forst time. At the end of it - it didn't feel that way. We got there at half past 10 and continued laughing our guts out till half past 3 in the morning. They actualy thought Tina and me were not Brother and sister - till we told'em and cleared the air.

This was way past the hour when the chimes struck in the clock tower at Bethlehem and heralded the beginning of a new era.

Another Foggy Bottom Day

This time around the entire city was affected.
Layer upon layer of the Fog descended from the heavens above - kinda like that hymn we sang at School: "Showers of Blessings"

I still remember the lyrics to a certain extent. Let me put them down as a reprise.

Still a few days to go for Christmas - yet the season has begun.
So what if we can't have Snow. The fog will do for awhile. :-)

And gues what - I seem to get into a sneezing fit every hour or so. This is a collection of 3-8 sneezes at a go akin to a mail train. Then my colleague from the bay sends me her "god bless you"s.

God knows - I need them.

22nd December '05- Ugly Kid Fog rears his head early in the Morning in Gurgaon. All I see are the clouds on the ground. And guess what it only affected Gurgaon - no impact on Delhi!!

It gives me impetus to get home on time :-)

Creativity Lost!!

John is very creative.
He put his creative thoughts online.
That was extremely tough - given the fact that he is not used to a lot of hard work. He is more of the guy who gives intelligence (consultant) than actually type it out....

Now the guys at www.launchpad.com shut his shop and ran away with all that Creativity.
He is left wondering how to recover his thoughts – which I must admit had me asking for more.

Anyone who can help him - please do so...

ELEVATE with DJ Sasha (17 Dec)

This was supposed to be a pretty happening event.
Saturday Nite - Cool place- hot music - even hotter women and the like.

It started off with a good dinner at the Kasbah in GK-1 where I got to meet the members of Tina's (my sis) gang. Very nice and friendly people - all of them!!!

The challenge started when we entered CLub Elevate. They'd hyped up this event of DJ SASHA playing at their club to such an extent that they proved right the old saying - EXPECTATIONS REDUCE JOY.

The music - totally club and trance is great for sometime, OK for a while and then it starts to jangle the nerves. Add to that the fact that you pay a 1500 entry charge - which is NOT a cover. The place is big but it was jam-packed and the floor was only for keeping your feet there - not for dancing. Again - since it was sponsored by SMIRNOFF - Vodka was the only liquid appetizer on offer.

Everybody was pushing everybody else around and picking up an argument wasn't all that tough. We also picked it up with 2 SURDS(the turbanned variety) - unluckily - calmer heads prevailed. At least that ways - we'd have gotten some action.... just kidding - they'd probably have beaten the crap out of us :-)

We dance a bit - till abuot 2AM and then headed home - totally out of synch.

The highlight of the evening/ night was the double scoop of Baskin Robbin chocolate ice cream that I picked up on the way out of the plaza.

Ahhh- to be able to sin !!!!

Reasons to drink ( water & alcohol)

PS : Never write about drinking when you're drinking and upset.
It upsets the hell out of your life - even more!!

The Neal'n'Nikki Thingie

I was really there to see Nikki.
Tanisha is definietely HOT.
Uday looks like a jumped up wimp - with lipstick - his red lips kinda like stand out the whole film!!!

Well - actually Dad managed first day pics for the film and there was no reason not to go.This movie has been made for fanatics.
I mean - at least 60% of it is dedicated to exploring the female anatomy. It would be a little gross - but - the director (his name is Arjun Sablok - does no justice to the name) jhas gone overboard on his focus on - breasts , getting laid & poorly executed lip-locks. The lead duo have no chemistry when they do it - at least not something that's evident.
Reminiscing about Madhuri (Dayavaan ) & Karishma (Raja Hindustaani) - they had spunk put into those moments. These scenes in NNN were pathetically American and that too without the emotions.

The movie was a treat for the male eyes - nothin beyond that.
Oh - I did like the climax though!!!

1st Dec 05 - A new beginning

Day o at NIIT.
I'm in the Higher Education (aka higher ed) Division.
They still have to figure out a project and workstation for me - i'm in no hurry.
The break could be useful.

Travelling is gonna be a bummer though.

What can you really say abt life...

Yeah - he does.

If God wanted me to touch my toes, he would have put them on my knees.
What's with all the exercising? Can't we just live life like it's meant to be...

I tried to get a life once, but they were out of stock.
So I decided to make mine better than the ones on offer

Yes - I only gave the Symbiosis entrance exam - never even tried for the IIMs :-)

I'm Home
I'm home again...

This time I should be around for awhile.

I'll be staying in a house close to home. In fact it's just around the corener.
So we had a purification session for the new dwelling as also to welcome me back.

My job (apart from the photographs) was to sit, keep up with their chants as much as possible, and keep pouring in the oil(Ghee) everytime my aunt went ,"SWAHA".
We left after the prayes, the fire was allowed to burn out - and it took a close to 5 hrs to do so. That's something. Consequently, when I went home to check on things (at night), the house was all smoked up.
I wasn't expecting this kind of a welcome. SO it totally bowled me over. I ain't fakin' it when I say - WOW!!!

November 18,2005

My Last working Week at LB.

There is a sense of closure to this week. Seems like I'll be starting something new.
Yes - my move to NIIT will be good for life.

Closing out the meetings - saying goodbyes - some never to meet again!!

It leaves a tear in the eye - but the winds of time will blow that dry.

So it begins...

8th November

• Reshmas last day today. She's off on one long sabbatical after this. This one hurts - she was one of the very few genuine people one will meet in the path of life. She told me to be good and do well.
• The famous incident of the mistaken "girl whom arjun is marrying" also occurred on the 8th. Actually it occurred on the 7th - but was reported in the local grapevine on the 8th morning. It was a 'not so simple' case of mistaken identity. There is a picture on my desk - carrying in it the pictorial representations of 4 males & 1 female of our testing team. I am one of the 4 males depicted therein. A local warm body viewed the picture and commented that this was the young lady i was to marry. The news got interesting because that individual had not seen my lady and sat 3.5 metres from the depicted girl in the office. The poor lady was embarassed beyond doubt till the evening as people went and kept congratulating her. The individual who'd CREATED THE STIR, remained unmoved.

7th November

Mondays - my idea of a whole lot of fun - 5 more days to go!!

• Vikram was on a half -day. He had to leave his family to the Station.Cat is away - mice will play
• Raghav went to see his wife off to Delhi too. This mouse will not play. He will stay late in office without any worry now.
• Vivek is back after a weeks vacation. He had an exciting Diwali week. On calls all day - parties at night.
• I went to book my tickets to Nagpur. Should be able to spend this weekend with Jigyasa. Will collect the tickets tomorrow.
• Project testing coming along OK. Lets see what tomorrow does for us.

Tough Day - lotsa work - trying to download VPCs from the FTP
Its 3:30 am here on the 4th and I'm stilll not sure this is going anywhere.

Got to spend a lot of time in office and have meaningful discussions with SUmanta in the US and the Guards at our reception desk.
I would so so like to hit the sack!!!!

I did a lot of arguing today - you know - one of those days!!
Hopefully Friday'll be better

Diwali Dhamaaka (a.k.a. explosion)

• Tina (my sis) landed up late – so we got late getting to Boss’ home.

• Vikram & Monica have a nice place and the twosome are awesome. They exude warmth and happiness I sacrificed Bhabhis home made kachoris in favor of Vrindas Malayalam special lunch. It wasn't an easy decision - but one that I made with a very heavy heart. I'm sure I could have eaten the Kachoris and lunch - but Tina was showing me eyes....!!

That's the Lunch I'm writing about
• Vrinda is an excellent cook and a great host – she actually left her meal midway to make more rice for the hungry me!!!

• Tina and me did the Rangoli , the Diyas and the Puja after that – it was the way things were supposed to be done.

• Crackers, drinks’n’dinner followed at Shiladityas place as we settled down for a late evening get together and made animated conversation.

This was one of the better Diwalis that I’ve celebrated. Was fortunate enough to be with people who care.
I do believe that the next one will be better!!!

News for the Day(s)

25th October

• I got through with my interviews at NIIT.

26th October

• Confirmed the numbers with NIIT, and accepted their offer
• Informed Vikram that I will be moving on. Still have to convey the message to DHL (Delivery head from Ludhiana)
• Went for "Flight Plan" at night

27th October

• I complete 1 Year at Lionbridge
• Not too much work today. Want to spend more time talking to her.
• Mom-Dad are happy that I'm moving back to Delhi. Actually even planning to stay in Gurgaon.

NEWS for the DAY - 19th Oct '05

1. Watched 2 more friends land new jobs - what am I doing????
2. Spilt Juice on Gayatris table - ate sandwiches with her.
3. Poked loads of fun at Vrindas idea of "fun"- some people are tooo old to have fun these days
4. Worked on the Kickoff preparations for a new project on the 20thOctober.
5. Watched Raghav shift into the lucky chair - by my side - it's been the passport to a new job for all those who've sat there
6. Went in for a counselling session with our Training Manager - still wondering if I paid attention to what was said or who said it.
7. Got a hold of John Wesleys new email ID. He seems to be settling down at WIPRO
8. I still have to reply to Malliks SMS - he is in a high pressure situation at Nipuna

Almost became a great day.

NEWS for the DAY - 18th Oct '05

1. Got into a meeting which wasted most of my day
2. Ran around in loops - in discussions which led me nowhere
3. Got an interview call with a competitors organization
4. Changed my MSN callsign - since the Program Manager felt it would confuse the client
5. Witnessed some more screwups on other projects

All in all a great day.
